The other day, I worked a recording with Triforce, my favorite quartet.

This time, it was really unfortunate that I couldn't see them in person.

Remotely recording is easy because I can do it at home, 

but I felt it was difficult to communicate.

I want to work abroad again.

I had a lot to do in March.

Besides Triforce, I had 2 more recordings to do.

One with boys choir, and one with wind instruments.

In addition, I did two online classes of music workshops with foreign students. 

A teacher from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology invited me
to talk about game music.

This was my first workshop, I thought it would be a good experience,
so I accepted it.

Their classes are at 9:30 and 11:00 am, 

but in Japan, it was at 11:30 pm and 1:00 am. 

That was really late!

There were about 15 students in each class.

I asked Maho Azuma to be an interpreter. 

She is a flute player who played on my album.

I wanted to keep the self-introductions short and focus on the Q&A session.

The students were quieter than I thought.

I couldn't understand the facial expressions of the students on the laptop, 

so I was confused a little.

They asked questions such as:

When you composing, do you watch the developed game video?

How will it be offered to developers? 

What part do you start with when composing?

I answered in a simple way.

Most of the time, only draft pictures,  background, 

and storyboards are available. 

I use these materials as inspiration.

If I waited until the game is ready,
I wouldn’t be able to meet the deadlines.

Also, I played some pieces of game music on the piano 

(of course Panzer series).

Everyone seemed to enjoy it.

This was a really good experience for me.

If it weren't for this situation now,
I would go to Massachusetts and have a workshop there.

I would rather communicate with students directly.

体調など崩したりして

とても久しぶりのSallyです

 

うーん、やっぱりリモートはどうも苦手だ・・

などと言っていられません

仕事が進んでいるのはいいことです！

と、自分を叱咤激励しつつ

 

先日そのリモートなレコーディングが終わりました

もうすっかりお友達なTriforceの皆さんの

渋いスタジオでの録音

私は片隅のラップトップの中に　^o^;;

 

あちらは土曜の夕方から夜にかけてでしたが

こちらは日曜朝7:00からで

起き掛けでとろとろした顔で

パソコンにしがみつく私

 

 

その少し前にはマサチューセッツ工科大学の

音楽クラス（副科なんでしょうか？）から

ワークショップの依頼がありました！

え！？なぜ私？何をやる？とか考えている暇もなく

あっというまに当日がやってきて

 

これまたあちらは朝9時半からの授業

こちらは夜11時からで

夜中に妙なハイテンション全開

深夜2:30までしゃべってピアノも弾いて

あれは何だったんだろうと遠い目で回顧する私です

 

１年生のクラスと２年生のクラスをやったのですが

それぞれ15人くらいで

ノートパソコンだと表情などがよくわからず

反応もわからず、みんな大人しくて

これでいいのだろうか、と不安でいっぱい

 

幸い、よく一緒にお仕事しているボストン在住の

フルートプレイヤー、Mahoさんが通訳をやってくれたので

私の気持ちのドタバタ感はここで一回濾過され緩和されて

伝わってるだろうと、密かに願っていました

 

一応ゲーム音楽作曲家、としてのワークショップ

（そういう名目で呼ばれた？）と思うので

自己紹介含め、まずこの業界に入ることになった顛末を話し

こういうの作ったよ、というわけで時々ピアノを弾きました

 

ゲーム音楽を作る時の手順やインスピレーション

などについての質問などが出ましたが

うーん、それってインタビューみたいだなー

MITならもうちょっと突っ込んだ話が出るかなー

などと思っていたのですが

みんな普通に大人しくて可愛い生徒たちでした

 

もちろんピアノ演奏はパンツァーシリーズから

現在どこにも発表されてない

戦闘曲のピアノアレンジ版など弾きました！

喜んでもらえた・・・と思います

（拍手マークがたくさん出てた ^^;;;;あ、ありがとう・・・）

 

まあリモートは大変だけど

それ故にもらえた機会だったと思うし

色々勉強になったし

Geneviebe先生お招き本当にありがとうございます！

 

 

あーでもやっぱり現地に行きたいな

言葉が通じなくても人の交流は大事だな

と、当たり前かもしれませんが改めて

思うところたくさんです

 

 

そして久しぶりの外のスタジオで

ソプラノボーイズ君たちの録音も無事終わり

また引きこもり体制で仕事します
頑張るぞ

Everything is still uncertain.

I hope for this situation to turn around for the better as soon as possible in the new year.
