Remembering GG, looking forward to GGM/ゲームギアミクロ！

今年もこの花に↑覆われる季節がやってきた・・

Hello, everyone!
Game Gear Micro will be released this autumn!

I was surprised at how tiny it is.

There are red, blue, yellow, and black models.

They are so cute. 

Sadly, I won't be able to play any of them because I can't see the screen clearly!

Instead of playing, I want to carry one around as a mobile strap.

Each color has 4 different titles.

One of them also has the 'Sylvantale' that I made music for.

My first music for SEGA was in 'Deep Duck Trouble'.

I made a game demo song for DDT, it was recognized and I joined SEGA.

GG had 3 tracks, and 1 additional track for percussive samples(noise track).

Music had to be created using only these tools.

At first, I thought it was very difficult.

About that time, I was teaching piano to children.

Come to think of it, beginner's and children's piano lesson music uses only 3 notes.

Nevertheless, there are many beautiful songs using just these sounds.

I was especially interested in how polyphony was used in European songs.

I was greatly inspired by them. And I could make a lot of music for GG's titles.

Now that I think about it, the simple world of 3 notes was quite fun.

I really enjoyed the challenge of creating music in the limited environment of GG.

この秋に、ゲームギアミクロがリリースされますね

赤黒青黄の４つのタイプで、それぞれ４つずつ

当時人気タイトルだったゲームを搭載しています

私が音楽制作させていただいた「シルヴァンテイル」も

めでたく入っています

ミクロ！

小さいっ！

ゲーム見えないよ！

むしろ携帯ストラップにして持ち歩きたいかも❤️

私がSEGAで初めて作ったゲーム音楽は

このゲームギアの「ドナルドダックの４つの秘宝」でした

始めはたった３音で音楽を作るなんて！と思いましたが

例えば初心者の子供のピアノ練習曲には

3音だけで作られている美しい曲がたくさん

中でもヨーロッパのポリフォニー楽曲がすごく好きで

その形式を勉強してから、たくさんのゲームギアの曲を

作ることができました

始めはどうなることかと思ったけれど

気づいてみたらすっかりはまってしまい

そういう制限された世界に音楽をぎゅっと詰め込む感覚が

とても楽しくなっていました

シルヴァンテイルはその中でも渾身の1作

発売後、お客様アンケートのハガキが続々返ってきて

ゲームの評判が良かった上に

音楽も高得点が付いていてとても嬉しかった記憶が

そしてMDを横目にひたすらPSG音の美しさを追求して

1年くらいたった頃

いよいよ私もSaturnへ参入することになったわけであります

こんな形で復活するとは、嬉しいというか

懐かしいというか、小さいというか・・

だから小さいよっ！
